Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, His disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Church members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as greeting people as they come to church, to volunteering in teaching children and adults during Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and or small group Bible study; singing and playing instruments in praise & worship team, and among other things.

Mission, Evangelism, & Outreach

Fil-Am Christian Ministry is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We are active in supporting new church plant pastors, student pastors, and missionaries  with our money and with our prayers. We have supported four pastors and four Bible students in different parts of the Philippines. The church is also partnering with Pastor Romy & Vicky Cerico as commissioned missionary couple to the province of Saskatchewan, Canada.

Last year,  we partnered with Samaritan Purse’s “Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes” and collected a total of 130 shoeboxes packed with toys, school supplies, and personal hygiene care packages.  We have seen the work of the Holy Spirit moved the people of God through their generosity and genuine concern of reaching out  by packing and sending these Christmas shoeboxes to underprivileged children all around the world.  We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community, and or simply by becoming a partner in prayer  and or providing monetary support.

Taekwondo Ministry.  Also last year, the church has partnered with Kukkiwon trained Taekwondo Master Instructor, Jon Powell to reach out within our surrounding church community by offering a series of FREE taekwondo lessons two days in a week.  Every Monday and Thursday nights a total of 20 students participate in the taekwondo lessons held at the church.  Jon also make use of some of the taekwondo principles and disciplines as a segue way in sharing the Good News at the end of every session.

Ministry opportunities are in abundance locally- all around the Fil-Am Christian Ministry church community. If you and your family are being called to start a small outreach Bible Study group in your neighborhood; or a young married couple wanting to start up a “Life Group” among your circle of friends let us know and we will be happy to provide support.

Praise & Worship Ministry

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our praise and worship ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the choir. Still others get involved in drama. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of our church, using their talents and gifts to lead the congregation into a Spirit filled and God centered worship.

Ushers

The usher team at our church fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, unlocking doors, locking doors, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher team is a servant-heart group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life.

Nurture Ministry

People who chooses to serve in nurture ministry collaborates with the pastor in reviewing, and making recommendations of teaching materials  for use in Sunday Schools, Small Groups, Children Junior Worship, and Vacation Bible School. Teachers curriculum training are provided quarterly and during Summer prior to start of  VBS.  Ministry workers recruitment are year round for much needed teaching positions in pre-k and kindergarten, elementary, Youth, College & Career, Men, Women, Married Couples, Seniors, and Children’s Junior worship.  Ministry opportunities for teaching life groups or small Bible study groups outside church are a great way to start an outreach ministry within the church’s immediate vicinity.  Nurture ministry exists to provide spiritual nurturing or discipleship through Biblical instructions from cradle to grave,  . . .  “so that the man of God may be complete and thoroughly equipped toward every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:17

Children’s Ministry

Children are precious in the sight of God. They are the future of the church.  The Bible says, “train up the child the way he/she should go, so that when they grow old they will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6.  We take it seriously in caring and teaching our children Biblical foundations of creation, the fall of man, Christ’s death and resurrection, the gift of eternal life, and Christ’s return.  Ministry opportunities abound in Junior Worship and Vacation Bible School.

Youth Ministry

Our youth group is a dynamic and integral part of our church.  Always on the go and ready to serve in any capacity be it in leading worship rally during entire week of Vacation Bible School, or learning, practicing, and presenting cultural dances during Filipino Pride Day on a Saturday afternoon.  Ministry opportunities abound in Praise & Worship for vocalists & instrumentalists (guitar, drums, keyboards, etc.); worship rally leaders and teaching assistants during VBS week; and or just want to hung-out? Join us in Youth Sunday School, Youth Fellowship, Winter Jam, Youthquake Live, etc. . . . and you’ll have a blast! Oh . . . btw, the coolest thing you can be involved in our church is FREE Taekwondo lessons for 1 1/2 hours on Mondays & Thursdays, so call us now and sign up in Taekwondo Ministry!

Prayer Warriors

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Our Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday, during the morning service, a team of volunteers is praying for the ministry of the Word. Throughout the week, volunteers from our Prayer Warriors team pray for their pastor, a list of church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs. Each Wednesday, the church comes together for a special time of prayer and Bible study. Prayer breakfast are scheduled each month with options for prayer walking with Gospel tract distribution at a local flea market.
